Healing Broken Hearts in Huntersville
You're Cover.jpeg

The newest fiction offering from Helen Brown explores the issues around domestic and family violence, recovery, healing, and forgiveness. In this collection of short stories, we are introduced to the small town of Huntersville, where God brings people to find hope and healing, and a relationship with him. A warning - this book contains descriptions of violence and its consequences. If this book raises issues for you, we encourage you to seek help in your local area.

This book started with a story that was written for a competition in 2022.  In that story, Trudy escapes an abusive husband, Tony.  She is sent to Huntersville, a small town, in the middle of nowhere, which could be almost anywhere in Australia where Susan helps her to heal and establish a new life with a new name of Casey. That story made the top ten of the competition, and the original story can be found here: Casey's New Life.  As a result there were a few questions that I wanted to answer.  What was Susan's story.  When I started on that journey then there were a lot of people who had stories that needed to be included in the book.  In short what started out to be Casey's New life led to a book of ten stories, following Susan and her mission to help those who had been abused and the people that God used to assist her in so many ways.  Each story concluded with a statement about God and his power.
