Black and White

As I understand it, black absorbs all the colours of the spectrum and white reflects them. Isn’t this why many people have that pair of black trousers, skirt or suit because having absorbed all the colours it will be compatible with any other colour that your hands could find.

We talk black being a heavy colour and white being light. Are those people in a black mood absorbing all the negative feelings around them? Maybe people in a light mood are reflecting those same feelings and are not letting them affect their disposition?

These colours are a direct contrast to each other. Even when discussing evil and good we refer to them in terms of black and white. This is also reflected in the term of when we cannot make up our minds about a matter being good or evil; we denote it as being in a grey area. Grey is of course being a mixture of black and white.

The rules in our society used to be very much a black and white issue. Something was either right or wrong but only according to those that set the rules. There was, quite often, a lack of understanding applied to the circumstances of those to whom the rules were applied. Particularly in regard to wrong doing, today there seems to be a greater expansion of that grey area. This has been brought about supposedly because those applying the laws of the land are taking into consideration the environmental influences that may have contributed to the situation. This leaves many of us finding it very hard sometimes to understand the consequences faced by those who commit crimes.

We are told in the bible that one day God will decide for a final time what is right and what is wrong. Matthew 25:31-46
