God's Faithfulness
I was amazed at the sight of a very large rainbow in the sky recently. It was very clear and reached right across the district. All of us have been through some very tough times over recent years. First, there was a drought that dragged on and on, not just for one year, but three years, if you didn't count the previous seventeen years of lower than average rainfall. Next, came the bushfires, followed by Covid 19, which is still causing major disruptions to our livelihoods. Finally came the rains, lots of it, thankfully, but the damage they did is going to take years of hard work to fix.
Looking at that rainbow, though, I was reminded of God's promise, not only to Noah, but to the whole earth, or in this case our whole district.
God is still here watching over us, and as we come to the Christmas season, yes, still in the middle of Covid 19, we all saw that sign of God's faithfulness to each and every one of us. Some people will ignore what the message was, just as many ignored the signs of Jesus' entry into the world as a baby, but for those of us who saw, and took notice, we are grateful for the reminder that this season of difficulties will not last forever.
