Simple Pleasure
This prompt really had me thinking not only because the list was fairly long but because I need to be able to come up with some sort of photo that is relevant. The first thing I thought about when it came to simple pleasure was an incident that happened this morning. My husband left for town with a motor bike on board which had been playing up for days, my son and I were trying righting some equipment that had been blown over during a storm when we noticed that one of the dogs had shredded his collar. I knew we didn’t have a spare one in stock and my husband didn’t have his mobile with him. A phone call was made to the store that he was heading to; I left a message, asking them to pass it on. I have to admit though as I hung up that I had my doubts that my husband would actually receive the message. I was wrong he did and arrived home a couple of hours later with collars in hand.
This made me think about modern equipment and what was working or not working. In the storm we had water in our taps because we have a high tank not an electric pump. I would be able to light my wood burning stove if the electricity is cut off enabling me to cook meals for my family. My husband’s motor bike is not working but his legs do. Our old fashioned fridge works while a mate of my son’s new one has died even while it’s under warranty.
So my simple pleasure is in the old fashion things that are simple and work such as old fashion service that passes on messages and equipment that isn’t complicated to use.
