Much Loved
There is a tree in my garden that is much loved not only because of its beauty but for the memories it provokes.
While the original tree was planted in a different position, the current one is its replacement as it was blown down during a few windy days many years ago. I really wanted to try and maintain the status of the garden and so I was given this one as a seedling tree by a friend. When I arrived home that day I placed the pot on the edge of a garden beside the carport so it could be kept watered until I was ready to replant it in the same position as the fallen tree. I got busy for so long that when I actually tried to pick up the pot to replant it, the roots had grown out through the bottom and established itself right where I had sat it down. It had to stay there.
The friend that gave me the seedling was one of those ladies, who no matter how tough life was; she was determined to carry on. A deliberate strategy in order to make sure that she didn’t lose any of the abilities that she still had.
So what memories does this tree bring to the surface each time I look at it? It reminds me that no matter what our circumstances are in life, we can work our way through the difficulties and create some beauty. I recall my friend who had the strength and determination to use the motto “Use it or lose it”. Circumstances in life may not be ideal but we can grow, flourish, and flower right where God has placed us. This is a reminder that I often need on days when I feel a little down.
