Beautiful
Oh where do I start! Yesterday was beautiful; the sun was shining, a breeze helped dry my washing, the flowers were in full bloom and the ground was still damp from the rain. Today’s weather is beautiful with light cloud and the husband is trying to sow our paddocks. If tomorrow is wet, it will be beautiful as the seeds will need water to help them grow. The truth is that all the things that I find beautiful are relative. A rainy day is always beautiful to a farmer after three years of drought. A sunny day will be beautiful after a week of rain and floods. A fire is beautiful in winter, not so in summer.
A baby is always beautiful to their parents. A building will be beautiful to the Architect regardless of what I think of it. When people are kind to each other we say that it is a beautiful thing because it is good. When God created the earth, (Genesis 1) He looked at what He created at the end of each day and said “it was good”.
I look in the mirror these days and realise just how much I’m fraying around the edges these days but in the eyes of God I am beautiful because God tells me that “… I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are thy works…” (Psalm 139:14)
I can thank God that He has made lots of things that are good and therefore they are beautiful. The scope of what He has made is vast, very vast but He made it all, including me and even I have to admit that He does not make mistakes. So as long as I remember that God is the creator of all things then they are beautiful because He makes good things.
