Damaged
In the garden there was a tree that needed to be dealt with. It had been damaged not only by a vine growing up through the branches but also from winds during a storm. The branches had been weighed down under the extra burden but when the storm winds blew they snapped. As I pulled out the vine and dragged it and the broken limbs to the rubbish heap, I was thinking about all those people who could relate to this tree.
They carry so much extra stress or workloads and seem to manage to cope until that out of the blue storm hits. It could be an illness, job loss or the death of a loved one. Something has to give and it usually does. If they are left to fend for themselves their lives continue but like that tree, parts of their lives are left hanging and dying and they take on an ugly look.
My tree didn’t get a choice; I forced my care for it on it without asking permission. For us humans though when we are broken or damaged we know that God loves us. When we allow Him to care for us and all we have to do is ask Him, He will give us the strength to move forward despite the damage and things that are now missing in our lives. He will help us to grow stronger, develop new interests and bring out in us those talents that He knows are there but maybe have been hidden for too long.
For proof let us check what the bible tells us “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22 “Casting all your care upon him; for He careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
