My best bit of 2014
It’s over! While it’s been a challenging year, which when I look back revolves around one event, the accident that my parents were involved in and which took the life of my mother. However, I wouldn’t change anything about this year. I have learnt a lot of new things; things about resting in, waiting on, listening to and leaning on the Lord God. I have seen so many miracles; well I’m going to call them that. I consider a miracle to be something extra ordinary.
We started the year, supporting a daughter who had endured with great strength a marriage that was abusive and had decided that enough was enough. There were many things that happened in that time that we considered being extra ordinary and it’s not my place to tell them here. There were however many that were for me and me alone. The marriage of our eldest son while not extra ordinary in itself was still very special.
Back to that accident! When the police posted their report of my parents on the internet there was not one person who was unkind in their remarks, in this day and age that is extra ordinary. That feeling of panic that I experienced to finish the manuscript for my second book and by listening to God (because I believe that this feeling came from Him) I submitted my last story on the day before that momentous accident which I consider to be extra ordinary. The cancelling of my first overseas trip because there were not sufficient numbers to make up the tour, while a mystery, it was extra ordinary because that tour would have started just a couple of weeks after mums death. My health playing up during the middle of the year was so frustrating but meant that I was unable to make extra commitments that I would have had to fulfil the week of this accident.
The latest extra ordinary thing was when we went to plant my birthday tree, in the same spot where we thought one had died only to find that its wasn’t dead, there were new leaves hidden in amongst the weeds surrounding it. As I thought about this year it seems that it was just like that tree, there was new growth it was just surrounded by a lot of tough stuff.
As I look forward to 2015, I look forward to growing taller than the other stuff. Happy New Year to all my readers and Photo a Day friends.
