Round
The round table, what stories does this bring to mind? Might we think of the Knights of the Round Table? The table was round so I’m told in order to give every Knight equal status, no one would end up at the “head” of the table because there wasn’t one. Of course there is always a “head” or leader of any group and in this case it would have been King Arthur. Equality within a group is helped when not only the leader but each member of the assembly treats everyone with the same respect and courtesy, which is apparently what, happened.
It has nothing to do with what duties have to be carried out by any member of that organization. Each member must have a different function otherwise nothing would ever be done effectively. Treating a cleaner, tea lady (do they have them anymore) with the same respect as the president or the Finance officer with equal respect will make a workplace a happy, healthy and make a business, group or organisation go places fast and furiously.
It also reminds me that God made us all equal in His sight. He loves each one of us, not only because we are part of His family but because He made us. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28
He has a different job for each of us to carry out while we are here on earth and that will be revealed to each one of us at the right time in God’s special way. It is then up to us to take the necessary steps to make sure that we accomplish what He wants of us, with His help of course.
