A light at the end of a Tunnel
How many times do we say this when life has been uncertain for a while and we think that uncertainty is coming to an end? I know have remarked in this manner many times. I’ve even had friends suggest that the light I can see at the end of the said tunnel is a train coming to flatten me once more.
We all experience periods in life when there just doesn’t seem to be any end to the number of trials and tribulations that we face on a daily basis with many of them overlapping each other. For instance a child may be chronically ill but there is work to be carried out and if there are other children in the family, their needs also need to be seen to. Often accidents happen during these periods because sleep deprivation takes its toll on our ability to concentrate. You find yourself asking ‘What else can go wrong?’
I’m at that age when getting up during the night is pretty much a given activity. Each time I do I make sure that switch on my bedside lamp simply because as I return to my room I need a light to guide me! I have lost count of the number of times that I have stumbled in the hallway simply because of a lack of a light. It doesn’t matter how bright or small the light is, it just helps me to find my way back to bed.
When we are struggling to get through those very stressful times in our lives let us remember the words of Jesus “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12. He is our light because we can trust Him to care for us no matter what.
