Pattern
When you stop to think about it there are so many patterns in our lives. Some are subtle, that you barely notice them. For instance the days get gradually shorter or longer depending on which side of the Vernal or Autumnal Equinox we might be on but we hardly notice. The period of your life that involves raising children might be classed as dramatic and busy and may even drive you crazy but it is still part of your life. Still other patterns in our lives are big and bold such as the changes in our life stages.
Most of the patterns in our lives will change from time to time. Just like when we buy a new lounge with a different pattern or replace the carpet on the floor. Our time of raising children will come and go as they grow up and leave home. Even our jobs, these days, will most likely change, sometimes giving us a completely different career. Very few of our grandparents had more than one job for their entire working life but even their patterns changed when they retired.
Society’s patterns have changed as well. When I was born, my father confidently gave me my mother’s name because when I grew up I would get married and no one called a married women by her first name, so as far as he could see no one would confuse me with my mother. Now, of course, even small children call me by my first name, how things have changed.
Of course there is one person, who set all the patterns in place and never changes! “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;” Psalm 8:3 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8
