There is that saying “that the only exercise that some people get is jumping to conclusions” or the other one is “jump to it and get on with the work”. It will be of no surprise to many that know me that I have done both these things in the last couple of days.

Let’s start with the first one. The other night I had a nightmare. It revolved around my son. So when I woke up at 1.15 in the morning, finding him not home yet, I jumped to the conclusion that my dream was a premonition. I worked myself into a stew and waited for him to arrive home. He did, of course, at 2am parking his vehicle in the shed with no idea of what was going on in my head.

What I should have done is spend more of that time in prayer for friends and family. I did, a little but seriously just no enough.

Today, started out with me feeling a little down. So to do something about it, I decided to sort out a cupboard and clean a certain messy room that was not really up to scratch. So that brings me to the second saying “jump to it and get on with the work.”

The bible tells me “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” It doesn’t matter what it is that we find to do, small, medium or large, we need to do it well and with energy.

Today’s jobs, even though they were small, gave me a sense of achievement and made me feel so much better than I did the other morning. So it’s definitely better to jump, to it, not conclusions.
