In A Row
When building a very good fence, a farmer will spend a lot of time sighting the posts. This is a long process; the posts at each end of the fence are put in first. Then two people work together to mark out where the posts should be placed. This is to make sure that all the posts end up in a straight row, spaced properly and connected together with stands of wire so it will do an effective job of keeping the stock where the grazier wants them.
If the fence posts start to move and lean over, those animals wanting to make an escape will be able to do so more easily. These fences are put up with the purpose of making sure that the stock are able to stay safe in the paddocks and have sufficient feed to eat. They also enable to grazier to save time when he wants to round up stock for market or treatment.
God continually creates fences for us as well. He continually works at building fences around us as individuals. His spirit shows us, through the bible, preachers and friends, things that we need to change in our lives to be better people. He prompts us to learn new things, take on new challenges and inspires us to reach higher goals. All these things are part of the plans that He has for each one of us as individuals and for history. He doesn’t do it in an instance either. He will take His time making sure that all those posts are in the right place first so that once they are connected with His love and care we will be a very strong and important part of those plans.
Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. Proverbs 16:3
