Summer/Winter
In Australia we have winter while friends in the northern hemisphere have winter. The earth here is busy producing lots of growth in warm weather and sunshine. We are also celebrating this year as we have actually had some decent rain for the first time in years. I know that on the other side of the earth is resting; plants are hibernating, waiting for spring to come. Genesis 8:22 assures us that “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
I guess God knew us well enough to know that we would not rest unless we are forced to. This would be why He designed winter short days, forcing us inside to much earlier than during the long days of summer. Personally I find winter a nice time of the year. I so love being curled up in front of a heater with a good book to read or writing more stories.
These days many people try to tell us that “Mother Nature” is responsible for controlling the weather and seasons. “Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.” God made them all and we should honour Him even when the weather brings problems to be dealt with such as droughts, storms and floods.
It is His inspiration that enables us work out how to live within the boundaries that the weather gives us. So we have worked out how to heat or cool our homes and the development of plants that grow within the confines of short summers or very cold winters. To God be the glory.
