Overwhelmed
There are times during our lives that we can look around us and feel completely overwhelmed by the amount of work that we need to get through. The list can seem like a mass of water rushing towards us, threating to drown us. We just feel as if we are never going to get through the challenges.
Like the extra water that floods into a stream after a summer downpour stays between its banks, our circumstances too are confined between boundaries that God has set for us. Remember Job, a man who had to cope with so many disasters. God allowed satan to give Job as much grief that he could without killing him. “And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.” Job 1:12
Now we must remember that we are not Job and God has completely different plans for each of us. So when we are feeling overwhelmed we can be reassured that God will not give us more than we can cope with. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13.
At the times when we feel overwhelmed we can have confidence that God has our best interests in mind and the lessons we learn will be part of His plan for us. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
