Temptation

PIC_0859.JPG

If there is one temptation that I find hard to resist it is to Quit. When things get tough I just want to sit down and quit. I find to easier to look at that very distant finish line and think about how hard life is going to be before I can even get somewhere near it. I have to take a deep breath before I can say “no don’t quit just take this one step at a time.” One small step will get me just a little closer to the finish line.

Life can be tough for each of us. Some people seem to have a tough life from beginning to end. Others will appear to have a series of difficult years in a row. There will be those of course who just seem to have a good life. Mind you I’m sure they have their struggles as well, we just don’t get to see them.

There are times when it is necessary to sit and rest awhile I know that, otherwise God would not have instructed us to “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10. Resting is very different to quitting. By not quitting I have learnt a lot of things like, I do have courage, strength, organisational skills, patience, a reasonable imagination and best of all understanding. This allows me to sympathise with others.

So when I’m ready to quit again I go to God’s word and listen to Him tell me the same thing He told Joshua “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:9
