Another Reflection
We had reason one day to reflect on the lives of a few people we have known and the large amount of work that has to be done when others pass on. Specifically I was lamenting about the amount of work that I would be faced with. During this conversation a comment was passed that all that all this talk was premature. The response was that we are all walking “time bombs”.
Just like the return of Jesus no one has any idea when their time will be up. Even for those of us that get some warning due to illness we still have no idea of the exact day or hour. “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.” Mark 13:32 Of course once we die or Jesus returns our eternal life begins either in Heaven or Hell and there is no turning back.
Over the washing up I reflected how so many of us contemplate on our eternal destiny when we are in the midst of grief over the death of a loved one or even distant acquaintance but once life returns to normal we soon push such thoughts to the back of our minds.
While it is not a good idea to dwell on death all the time it is important to make sure that we are prepared for that final journey. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Hebrews 9:27
If we come to Jesus and accept His gift of love that caused Him to go to the cross so that we could be presented faultless before God on judgement day, we will be able get on with our lives and not worry about the final outcome.
