Colour
The sun is rising across the valley and slowly I get to see the colours of my world again. They have been there all night but hidden under the blanket of darkness and sleep.
So what happens each morning when I watch the sun rise and it lightens my world. It reminds me that there are good things in my life. They may just been hidden under a blanket of pain, illness or depression but the truth is they are still there. I just cannot see them during these times.
Some of us may not like the colours we see when the sun rises. I’m thinking of our poor drought affected farmers who only see brown dirt and pale blue skies when they look around them. They need the skies to turn grey. So that rain will fall and turn brown mud into green grass. I pray that they too will remember that someday it will happen.
In Psalm 30:5 we read: “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
Yes it is hard to hang on to these truths when we are having a bad day, week or year. The truth is the truth and a bad day doesn’t change that. It’s like gravity, you can believe all you like that it doesn’t exist but when you jump off a cliff, gravity works. It takes you to the bottom, fast.
When we are in the middle of a night of bad days, which seem to go on forever, I pray that we will always remember the God declares that the sun has to rise in the morning and we can claim the promise from Psalm 126:5 “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.”
