My favourite pastime at present is writing short stories. I’m not very good at it and I am always amazed when people tell me that I am talented. When I was at school I had trouble with reading, spelling and arithmetic.
My break came when I reached thirty something, it was discovered that I had an eye co-ordination problem. It turned out that my eyes were not working together in the way they should have been. To explain it further; if you gave me the number 12, my left eye would see the one and my right eye would see the two. My brain then had to work out if the number was 12 or 21. In the meantime the class had moved on. Spelling presented similar issues.
So my desire to write seemed like an impossible dream well that was until God allowed someone to invent the computer and more importantly ‘spell checker’. I still use that facility a lot. Without this technology I would never be able to write a short story, let alone three hundred and fifty five. There are still days when my lack of skills really gets me down and I feel as if I am truly out of my depth.
On these occasions I have to remind myself that God has helped me to do this. What His reasons are I have no idea but I will keep going for the moment and I praise Him each time someone is encouraged by something that I present.
There are two verses that keep coming to mind during those bad moments that I have and they are: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13 and “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 55:8
