Private
When you get a letter marked “Private and Confidential” You know that you have no business opening that letter unless it has your name on it.
Have you ever had someone tell you that what you know, feel and have experienced is of no consequence. Well recently I had such an experience. I felt as if all my life’s involvement with God was being totally disregarded. I sat listening to this person and in my head I was screaming at God saying; “Please tell them that you and I have had a relationship and that we have been working together longer than they have been alive!”
God’s answer was just as clear! “It’s none of their business. What I want you to do, who I want you to talk to and how I want you to work is just between you and ME” In other words God was telling me that my relationship with Him was our Private affair.
Now don’t get me wrong. I know and believe that my relationship with God has to be evident to others around me. My life will still have to produce those fruits of the spirit that are talked about in Galatians chapter 5. This person was making blanket assumptions and I wanted to set them straight. What God was telling me was: “That is not your job that is my job.”
There have been times when I have committed the same mistake but sometimes it has taken many years for God to show me my error.
In 1 Corinthians 1:20 it says: “Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?” and while some people may accuse me of taking this verse out of context it does remind me that if we jump to conclusions about people then one day God will show us that we are wrong and we could end up looking very foolish. You will feel as if you have opened a letter that didn’t belong to you.
