Give
March is a busy month for our family when it comes to birthdays. We seem to have a lot of people born in this month. This means that I have to give a lot of birthday gifts. The problem is that I never really know what the best gift to give is. With anyone now living a long way away and not seeing them every day I can never be sure of what they need, like or want.
My husband, who still lives at home, is the hardest person to buy for. If he wants something for the farm he goes out and gets it when he needs it. As all his interests revolve around the farm, finding him something for his birthday is a major challenge, not only for me but for the children as well.
I struggle with what is an appropriate gift for so many people and I admit that I put it off so many times. Once my grandson came to stay with me and we went shopping at a plant nursery. While we were looking around his eye caught sight of a small cactus plant and he commented that he really liked it. My response was “Oh good, I owe you a birthday present so you can buy that”. His birthday had been weeks before.
So as you can see I’m not good at giving. I am always thankful that my God and loving father always know what to give me and will always give me the best gift for me.
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matthew 7:11
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17
