A Shape
As I looked out over the valley this morning it was very hard to see any shapes through the thick fog that had rolled in during the night. As the weather had cooled I had to wonder if this type of weather this morning was an indication that winter would be colder and earlier than usual. Was the weather telling me about the shape of things to come?
As I thought about during the morning I realised that there was no way for me to be able to tell what winter was going to be like just after one morning’s fog.
There are so many people who will tell us that they can tell what our future holds. There are even people who have read the Bible and think they know exactly what the second coming of Jesus will be like. When we look back at the death and resurrection of Christ we wonder how the disciples could not work out what was happening. According to some people they consider that as we are more intelligent we will not be clueless about these events.
“But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.” Mark 13:32
The Bible tells us in Luke chapter 17 that when he returns things will be the same as they were in the times of Noah and Lot. That means that people were carrying as if things were normal. “Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” Luke 17:30
So while we think we may be able to see the shape of things to come I doubt if we will get even close but then again I could be wrong.
