Dark
We all have to face those dark days. Those days will vary from the ones where everything seems to go wrong to those days when bad news sends your world into a complete spin. For our family today is one of those days. Today as we await test results with our third daughter I will hang on to the hand of my friend Jesus and say:
“A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” Psalm 23.
As we enter the valleys of life we have no idea how dark, deep and long they will be but the best we can do is hold the hand of our Lord and walk forward in faith knowing that He will be with us all the way.
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:9
The other thing we have to keep remembering is that no matter how dark, long and deep the valley is, there will be an end to it and we will one day stand on high ground again.
