Dinner

PIC_1140.JPG

There is something very satisfying about a good meal. It makes you feel comfortably filled. Sometimes it can bring on a sleepiness that can take over making afternoon laziness a tempting option particularly after a mid-day dinner.

Cooking a good meal is hard work for someone and then there is the cleaning up to be done afterwards. If you are the cook, putting all that hard work into a meal it can be upsetting when it isn’t eaten or is just toyed with. In some countries I understand that if you add anything, such as salt, pepper or sauce you are insulting the cook. I also understand that in other countries it is appropriate to make what we consider rude noises after a meal in order to show appreciation for the meal. The thing is, any meal is something that a lot of love and effort has been given to feed us and it is easy to make them feel unappreciated or insult these wonderful people.

Yet we can do the same to God, we can ignore the love and care that He shows us on a daily basis. Sometimes we are even unaware of just what we are doing. “Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?” Luke 12:24.

Some people reject everything that Jesus has done for them. “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” John 12:48. God cares for us in many ways and often in ways that we may never know about. So at the end of each day let us thank Him anyway.
