I Work Here
I work at home these days. I work at cooking, washing, keeping the house tidy, the garden under control as best as I can and write. If I am honest there are days when I would also like to work at other places as well. I would love to do a book tour and speak at different events but right now it would seem that God wants me here and here only.
I am grateful that we have a strong roof over our heads and a house that has plenty of room for all those grandchildren to come and visit. There are also times when I think our house is being underutilised because like everything I own I like to use it for the glory of God. “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Luke 12:34
There are many things that I don’t understand about what God wants us to do with our lives, but I know that the simplest explanation that I have heard recently is that the first thing we are called to do no matter what age we are is to worship God.
I have been thinking about how hard it must have been for Moses when he returned to Egypt to rescue the Israelites only to find that things were going nowhere fast. In fact things seemed to be going badly, very badly.
So trying to stay positive in a difficult situation is not a new problem. “Be strong, and of a good courage, feare not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doeth goe with thee, he will not faile thee, nor forsake thee.” Deuteronomy 31:6
While my house isn’t finished yet I know that I have one that is. “In my Father's house are many mansions:” John 14:2a
