A Cup of .....

PIC_1197.JPG

Tea, it has to be said, is my favourite drink. It was one of the few things that I could continue drink after I was diagnosed as a diabetic about six years ago. I prefer to drink my tea in a mug rather than a cup because mugs seem to hold more tea. I have a variety of mugs in my cupboard. One that was brought for me by one of my children says: “Now Panic and Freak Out”. I’m often accused of doing this but I would argue against it. Yes, I have been known to raise my voice but like many people say it is to me a form of motivational speaking to my children. How else will they understand the urgency of a situation until my tone changes? I’m not saying that I have never sinned in this process.

The mug does serve as a reserve psychology prompt though. It reminds me that it is really a very silly thing to do and a great waste of time. It is a very interesting way of reminding me that God is control of my life. He has a plan for it and He has an answer for any problem that I could be confronted with. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11.

I have faced many times when I have felt that I was not going to be able to cope. I thank the Lord each day that I was able to ring my mother on many occasions for common-sense advice. I can no longer do that so a cup/mug of tea and a quiet word with the Lord is my new method of reminding me that He is in control.
