Home
Home is where we are supposed to feel loved and safe but sadly this is not the case for many people. I was fortunate as child to have such an experience. We never had a house that we could call home, we moved on an average of once a year. When you move so many times, you need to find somewhere that represents home. For me it was the home town of my father and mother. They started their lives in Inverell and while my mother did leave for a few years, she returned and continued to live there until she went to work for the Salvation Army.
Inverell was also home because my father’s parents lived then and we stayed with them during holiday trips “home”. It was the centre that our lives revolved around. It didn’t matter when we went to for work, Inverell was that constant centre. Many other members of the family either lived there, close by or came home for holidays as well. To us children Grandma and Grandpa would always be there.
Nothing stays the same however, and over time many of the family members have moved away or gone to Heaven and yet because of my childhood memories Inverell is still feels like home.
For those who have not had the security of being loved and safe here on earth it is important to remember that there is a place where we will experience such a miracle. It is Heaven, where we will experience the joy of being completely loved and safe. “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4 and one day I will be home forever.
