Equal

When I am cooking my “Banana Muffins” I use equal amounts of Chocolate chips, Sultanas and Walnuts among other ingredients. While these ingredients are used in equal amounts, they are not the same and certainly taste different. They have different qualities and have a different function within the recipe. If I was to leave one of them out, the muffins would taste very differently to what I would expect but still eatable.

This is what it is like with us as people. We are all ingredients in the recipe that God has designed for history. We are all different and have a different function, talent and place in the plan of God but we are all necessary. Some people, I think are very tempted to say I’m not important to the plan, no one will miss me if I don’t show up or if I don’t carry out my calling. If we remove ourselves from that plan we will be missed. The plan will still be completed but it will just like those muffins be different. God plans will not be thwarted.

“For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;” Romans 12:4-6

It doesn’t matter how small the job, all how uncertain we feel about what it is that God has called us to do or how big it is. We are still a very important part of God’s plan and because He has the blue print in His hand He will guide us to fulfil our part. Let us all get into the mix.
