Good Times

PIC_1244.JPG

When people take the time to sit and listen to you and you to them, good times are often the result. We are social beings, God made us that way. Yet we are still inclined to hide away behind closed doors and snuggle up with a book, spouse or just the covers of our beds. In winter this is quite understandable as its cold outside but I think we are seeing more of this during the summer as well.

My reasoning is that this is one of the factors why we are seeing an increase in depression and anger in our society. Talking to a person, face to face, is the best medicine for many illnesses. If you enjoy yourself you will be able to smile and laugh and that helps us. Even letting tears to fall can be helpful.

Yes, I understand that it’s hard to prepare and make the effort to go to any event, function or friends home but the effort is often worth it. The weather this week has been wet and dreary and I have been trying to prepare for a garden party, even today the weather was cold and windy and so we adjourned inside.

Hebrews 10:25 reminds us “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

So today we have had a lot of good times, as friends visited, checked out our home and garden, talked, ate good food and raised some funds for a charity. These are good memories that I will be able to look back on over the next few weeks and I am sure that God was in the mist of it all. I give thanks for the day.
