Lucky
There is a saying that goes a bit like “the harder I work the luckier I get” and the other one that I have been aware of recently is “But for the grace of God go I”. There are no guarantees in life. It appears that some of the guarantees that you get are not worth the paper they are written on.
There are so many people and businesses these days that think nothing of breaking their word and sadly some of these people can be found in the congregations of our churches.
As I write this I am coming to terms with one of those phone calls where I was told that my computer has been hacked into and was doing nasty things. The caller wanted me to try and fix it while they talked me through the process. It didn’t matter how many times I hung up on them they kept ringing me back. I have been left feeling quite exhausted from the incident. There was no guarantee that they were who they said they were. In the end I had to ask them to call me back tomorrow. I am hoping that they got the message.
It’s nice to know that while God does not promise us an easy, comfortable and wealthy existence here on earth, He does promise to walk with us, to help us and give us the strength to meet the challenges that are sent our way.
“Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;” Deuteronomy 7:9
“The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24.
I’m not lucky, I am a child of God and His faithfulness is guaranteed.
