Ha Ha Ha
It cold and wet outside and I can laugh at the weather. Why, because I have so many things that will keep me warm. Warm drinks, soup, and house, these things help me to stay warm. I realise that not everyone is blessed with such comforts. Gratefulness is something that I don’t exercise enough but I’m told that my quality of life would improve if I did.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” And I know just like me, that many people find this verse hard to comprehend particularly when they are in the middle of a crises or bad patch.. Yet it is there as a directive from God Himself.
From my experience, I have found that it is often only in hindsight that we can see the good that comes from those dark days when we wanted to yell, Why me? instead of Thank you Lord.
Something else that I have discovered during my life is that if we obey our Lord and Saviour He will lead us down paths that will strengthen us and teach us things that we may never have learnt any other way.
Even when we are having a string of really bad days there will always be days among them when we will be able to laugh at something or find some small thing to be grateful for. It might be a flower that has bloomed, a hug from a child, or just a nice hot cup of tea.
While it is hard to do sometimes we just have to look at situation from a different angle to see a beauty, joy and happiness that we couldn’t see before. On those bad days let us pray “God help me to see something beautiful, happy and lovely today”.
