Forgotten
Opps it appears I have forgotten that the muffins were in the oven. As I thought about why we forget things I realised that it is often because something else becomes more important. In this particular case, Facebook got into the road. On other occasions it’s been the needs of children, grandchildren or paperwork.
Why, you ask, would you walk away from a job when you know it has to be completed? You see when people are busy; they have trouble waiting for things to happen. After all, another job shouldn’t take more than ten minutes and you should be back in plenty of time to finish off a job. The problem is of course that wants starts out to be a ten minute job often ends up being a twenty or thirty minute one.
Of course, this can happen on a spiritual level as well. How many times have you asked someone about their spiritual health and they have replied along the lines of I’m too busy to think about it just now or I deal with that when I have more time. I know I have come across some people who have said similar things to me.
Sometimes, I myself have slipped into a situation where I have been too busy to give God and His plan for my life much thought. It doesn’t mean that I have forgotten Him but He has been pushed into the back of my mind for a short time.
So many times throughout scripture we are instructed to: “…….Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.” Luke 10:27 see also Matthew 22:37, Mark 12:30-31, Deuteronomy 6:5.
Trying to stay focused is hard but necessary.
