Animal

During my week in Sydney I have to say that I didn’t see any animals at all. I looked around and the only animal life was the pigeons which strutted around the railway stations. Of course, I could consider the two legged variety. It’s not the same though, is it? Yes, most people are moving in the same direction and moving as fast as they can as if they are being pushed. This is of course is usually time, if they miss that train they might be late for work. One gentleman, (I’ll be nice) made a remark to me as I hesitated at the top of the very steep escalators and opted to descend via the staircase instead.

Not only do we differ from the four legged animal variety in the possession of a soul but even when we are being driven we are going to a point of our choice. It is a choice that we have had a say in. Some people will tell you that they didn’t have a say in what they are doing but they did at some point.

Sheep, cattle, horses or goats do not have a choice in their destination. They are being pushed into a new paddock or yard so they can get a better feed if they are not being driven to market. The bible tells us in Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” It reminded me of a story I heard at conference about sheep that had been driven to high ground during floods following a dead sheep that floated by their safe haven. Unlike those sheep we can take heed of the word of God and follow Him against the masses.
