In the House
One of the things I saw on a recent trip was a piece of artwork that had been created using what appeared to be a tree that had died where it stood on the street corner. Of course, I cannot vouch for that as being fact. Even from a distance it was eye catching and interesting but as a piece of artwork I would never fit in the house. It was just too big.
Thinking about it on the way home I was reminded that our God is too big to fit into any house. We often try to confine Him to the limits of our imaginations. Many Sunday Schools teach children a song called “My God is so big” to help them to understand the magnitude of His love, power and capabilities. He spreads His love around the whole world and in fact the whole universe and across our entire history.
John tells us that even Jesus, God in human form, was present right from the start, when all things were created. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” John 1:1-3 and unlike our artwork tree He will be here long after it has disintegrated into a pile of wood and metal chips.
