Street
Like most things in this world streets come in a variety of forms. They have also changed a lot over the years. They do however all do the same thing, even if it not at the same level of comfort. They provide access to a destination.
I have often heard people say that they believe that all religions’ lead us to God and therefore to Heaven, they are just a different route to the same destination. However, Jesus said in John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” so what can streets teach me today?
As I looked at the type of streets we use; the mowed access to the dog kennels, the rough tracks around our farm, the better gravelled driveway or the smooth highways I thought about how that road will feel different to each one of us.
Some people’s lives are tough going, they seem to have to always mow the road in front of them, they plough their way through life. Others walk a track that is full of gutters and pot holes but they keep going no matter what life throws at them. Yet others will move forward along in what could be regarded as a reasonably smooth manner they have their issues but life is generally good. While others just sail along with no difficulties with many blessings and service for the Lord.
Now I’m not saying that those who seem to travel the great highways do not have problems in their lives, they will, their journey is just different to those who have to mow their way through life.
There is one place where our streets will all be the same - And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.” Revelation 21:21
