Negative Space
As I understand negative space, it’s a hole or large space in a photo. One of the things that I needed to do for my father on a certain visit was to repair a pair of trousers. When I unpicked all the stitching there was a large gap that appeared. Now I hadn’t kept my sewing skills up to date as I have a very talented daughter who I often delegate my sewing jobs to. Why should I struggle with these things when she can do them so much faster and better than I can?
So it was with a little trepidation that I started this project. About half way through this process I looked at the progress and wondered if I would be able to complete it to a satisfactory level. I realised that if wasn’t careful I could easily developed a negative mind space about my abilities to complete the job. I just needed to take it slowly, carefully, measuring before cutting.
It could also happen with other duties and projects that I undertake in life. If I try to rush it and do it in my own strength I will mess it up. I need to make sure that God is in the planning stages and that He will assist me along the way but I can only expect that if I am doing what He wants in the first place. “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Proverbs 16:9.
So let’s see if I can live with no more negative thoughts and therefore there will be no more negative space.
