Looking In

I was thinking about how when we finish looking in the mirror and walk away we often forget about what we saw. I have also been enjoying the warmer Queensland weather this week and I realised that I have already forgotten what it feels like to be cold. I will of course be reminded of that when I return home next week.

Memory is an interesting thing, isn’t it? Something can be locked away for many years and then for some reason it can resurface to be gone over again.

I have been thinking a lot about my mum this week and the fact that she is in Heaven waiting for the rest of us to join her. While we are missing her, particularly with an upcoming family wedding, I know that she would not want to return to earth. It’s not that she wouldn’t want to be at the wedding and celebrate with us but she is having a better time where she is.

Isaiah 65:16b says that “because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes”. Just like I forget about the blemishes on my face, when I walk away from the mirror and the cold at home, my mother has forgotten the troubles of this earth in Heaven. She will not have forgotten about her family and friends. She will be praying for them as she waits for us and that is the blessing of having a Godly parent.

Oh won’t it be great to leave all our troubles behind when we move into our new home in Heaven.
