Something Beautiful
Oh there are so many beautiful things in this world and what one person thinks is beautiful doesn’t always appeal to someone else. We picked a piece of pottery at an auction sale once, it is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen but I’m sure that some, including its creator, think it is wonderfully beautiful. I have a feeling that someone in the world would think that a speck of dust was really beautiful.
As I have struggled with pain over the last few days I have complained to God about how I wish this whole situation was over. He in turn has reminded me of a story of a man who having worked in a leprosy facility found himself unable to feel pain. Of course the question was, did he have leprosy or some other virus, only time would tell. So about 6 weeks later he was preparing his vegetables for dinner when he hurt himself, he felt pain and it was beautiful. Why? Simply because when he was able to feel pain he knew that he didn’t have leprosy.
Feeling pain tells us that something is wrong. That something is happening that is not normal. There are very different sorts of pain and not everyone feels the same way when experiencing the pain of loneliness, depression or anger. We all react differently.
There is one person though who understands all our pain, physical, emotional and spiritual. That is God our Father. When we cry on His shoulder, ask Him to help, He is faithful and will do so much more than we ever imagined.
“Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:4.
