Hat

There are so many different types of hats for people to wear. There is the hard hat that is supposed to be worn for protection on industrial sites. There is the sun hat, cute cloth hats, which children wear to protect them from the sun. Some hats are just decoration and others can be both decorative and useful.

Each hat is appropriate for different situations and there are some situations where no hat is suitable. As much as I like to wear a hat, I would look really silly if I was to wear a hat to the office in this day and age. Once, sixty or more years ago, yes, it would have been expected but not today.

How things change. It wasn’t that long ago when a woman wouldn’t have been seen with a hat on at all but now they are coming back into fashion for certain situations.

When we try to reach the world with the good news of salvation, I think we need to ask God how we are to approach such an undertaking. Just like we need to pick an appropriate hat for the job we are about to undertake we also need to pick and appropriate approach to spread the word of God.

“For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law………….And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.” 1 Corinthians 9:19-23
