Bedtime

My granddaughter was so excited. She was having her first “big girl” sleep over at grandmas. Being a “big girl” meant that she would spend the night without mum and dad. She was striking out on her own for the first time.

I’m pretty sure that the experience was very different to what she expected but it didn’t stop her from asking to do it again now and again.

This is often our own experience in life isn’t it? We have expectations as to what a particular career, job or even outings might be like. For instance I remember a young mum telling me how romantic the idea was of meeting another young for a cuppa down town, only to find that the reality was very different. The romance was ruined by the normal things children do.

We can often be sure that God has led us in a particular direction and we will have many preconceived ideas about what that would look like. Of course what God has in mind is often very different to that preconceived picture. That does not mean that God is wrong we just have to adjust how we see what we are doing. It’s not an easy thing to I understand that but with the help of the Holy Spirit it can be done.

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26
