Sunlight
Looking out the window I see more ripe tomatoes on the bush. It occurs to me that without sunlight they would still be green or not even exist. I also remember a few years ago after a very long and difficult period of cloudy and wet weather, my husband came in one day and remarked that the sun had been hidden for so long that the grass had stopped growing.
Like those tomatoes we also need the Son to ripen us, to bring us in to fullness of spirit, growth and into the likeness of Jesus. Without Him and the work of the Holy Spirit we would still be dead in our sins. This work in our lives creates those wonderful fruits of the spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23.
“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
Oh what a blessing it is to have the Son to enrich our lives.
