I Taste
Oh the taste of something sweet and different, some might say naughty even. For a person on a very strictly controlled diet, these treats are rare but extremely and I mean extremely enjoyable. I always must be careful to make sure that when I do indulge that I stop at one or two.
As I enjoyed this particular treat this morning I thought about how growing up we were taught to have strict spiritual diets. This is about how we behaved, what we read, watched and various activities that we participated in.
It took me a long time to understand that the occasional treat was not going to hurt me. In fact with the right approach, that meaning that God goes with me, I now understand that sometimes these things that fell outside the strict rules I grew up with can often be opportunities to witness for Him.
Now please don’t get me wrong, there are definitely somethings that are off limits always, Christ would never be honoured by our participation in some activities. Besides God is a generous God who gives good gifts and a wonderful array of benefits to His children and sometimes that is going to be something special that just tells us how much we are loved by Him.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17
