My Own

My own house is full of a lot of things. Some are useful, some are useless and past their used by date while other things are just for decoration. As I look around me and look at those things that are useless and really should be disposed of I wonder why it takes me so long to actually carry out such a process. Is it because I am lazy, too proud or do I just keep them for appearances sake?

When it comes to those issues in my life that need to be disposed of, I find myself being reluctant to let them go as well. If I am to grow in Christ and become more like Him then I must find a way to deal with these things. I must be willing to get rid of them, to let them go and allow Christ to clean out all the things that are taking up room and crowding Him out.

It will be an ongoing progress of course, as there are always things that while they are useful now they will become obsolete later and should be disposed of in due time. This applies not only to my house but also to my life.

“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,” Philippians 3:7-8
