Perspective
Getting a perspective on something is always easier with hindsight. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could have foresight as good as hindsight? It’s not about the ability to know what is going to happened but that ability to understand the consequences of the decisions that we make today.
If we knew how all the different consequences that could result from one decision then maybe we would be far more careful about what we decide. One of the things that I’d have loved to be able to do as a kid was to understand what people were trying to do when they would ask me questions. We’re they fair dinkum (being genuine)or just trying to trip me up. It was usually the later.
As the distance grows between us and the events in our past, we learn so much about what happened and how to handle a situation if it comes up again. It makes me wonder though what perspective we will have on our lives when it is over. “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” Revelation 20:12.
However, I need to stop worrying about the future and learn good lessons from my current perspective.
