Green
With the start of spring and rain a few weeks ago the grape vine has woken up and started to grow. It has only taken a few weeks, three to be precise for the small green grapes to appear. If you were to see these vines three weeks ago you may have even been convinced that they were dead and needed to be pulled out. One was even hidden in amongst some bushes that had suckered up and hidden it. It was watered at the same time as the other vines but had not been able to get the same amount of sunshine. The difference in the progress of the two vines is very noticeable.
Have you ever wondered why sometimes things or people are taken away from us? Maybe sometimes it’s not because they were bad or wrong but maybe it is time for us to see the sun more directly. It could be time for us to put on some new growth. Yes the process can be painful and disconcerting but God is faithful and He has a very good reason for making us stand more directly in His light.
Jesus tells us in John 15:1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.” It is God who prunes not only the vine itself but also tends the ground around which the vine is growing. It is God who makes sure that we are exposed to the sun and that our lives are not hindered with overgrown rubbishy plants around us.
Next time something is removed just think about how much more of the Son you will see.
