A is for Admonish
This word is often not understood outside Christian circles. So what does it mean? As I drove up to our gate on the way home from a shopping trip I looked at the signs on the gate. One reminded us to close the gate and the other warned others to stay out of trouble and not to enter unless they had a proper reason for being there. In old fashioned terms these signs admonish people about what we expect from our family and visitors.
In much the same we instruct our children on how to live so that their lives would be safe and happy, the Bible is full of warnings and instructions that God would like us to read and take notice of to live and grow in this world. It also gives us information as to what will happen when we are finished with this world.
Of course few of us will be able to follow these guidelines perfectly but that is where we also get some more good news. That news is that Jesus died for us to forgive us of our sins and sent the Holy Spirit to help us do what God wants us to do.
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26
