C is for Carnal

My husband loves his chooks. Each year he looks forward to a new batch of chickens hatching. There is always some that show signs of having the right colouring and others that are a disappointment to him. The chickens, as you know, hatch out of eggs but not all eggs produce chickens. If something as gone wrong in the early stages of the chickens’ formation then the eggs will go rotten and smell really bad when it is broken.

As I thought about the word Carnal I thought about how we all start off being people. Some of us will accept that free gift of salvation from Jesus and others will reject it. Those that accept the wonderful gift of grace will be transformed into new people, people that will work, love, and live for God for the rest of their life. People who reject this gift will continue to exist as they have day to day like the eggs that stay just eggs.

Carnal is the “before” Christ has turned us into new creatures.
