G is for Gospel
"Glad tidings" or "good news” is what Gospel means. Good news comes to us in all sorts of ways like when we get a good result after tests that have been taken. I recently received the good news that I didn’t have cancer. I wasn’t really concerned but it was still good to have my gut feelings confirmed. I can imagine though that if I had been told that I had cancer and then received the news that it had all gone away it would be the most wonderful thing that I would ever hear.
In the Bible we firstly hear that we as the human race are doomed to hell because Adam and Eve decided that they didn’t want to do what God wanted them to do, they wanted to do things their way. That means that the rest of us have inherited their sinfulness and that means that we should all end up in hell.
When we get to the gospels we find out that there is very good news, Jesus has come down from Heaven and He went to the cross in order to forgive us from our sinfulness and that will enable us to go to Heaven one day. We still have to make the choice to follow Him and accept His love for us.
It doesn’t matter how young or how old you are this message can be understood very clearly.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
