And the Frogs Sang

It had been wet for a few days. There had been enough rain to fill the dams and banks around the property. I decided one evening to go for a walk. As I listened to the noises around me I could hear what I assumed were a variety of frog noises. Some I knew for sure belonged to some Bullfrogs; their voices were deep and steady. I could hear other frog noises though and I thinking that some would have belonged to grown female frogs, those noises were still steady but not as deep as the Bullfrogs. Then there were those other noises, they had a much higher pitch that the others and a constant quick frequency. I thought they were probably the younger smaller frogs practicing and trying to emulate the older frogs.

I thought about how they seemed to be just like human children asking questions all the time and mum having to answer with grace and patience all the time even when the same question is asked over and over again. I also thought about we should praise God and give glory to Him all the time. “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;” 1 Peter 2:9. Surely that is what the frogs were doing, praising God for the rain that had filled the dams and waterholes allowing them to enjoy lots of water for a little while at least.
