Connecting……..

I’ve been thinking a lot about relationships with people today. It seems that while we are connected we are still not involved with each other. I will be the first to admit that I am very guilty of this. There is a difference between being connected and being involved.

We all lead very busy lives, there is work to be done, money to be made and we are constantly trying to keep our heads above the water of life. As is often remarked, life on earth is fatal, we do not get out of here alive but we don’t need to go out alone.

In order to have friends, to have the social interaction that we were made to need, we must be involved with people. This will take time and I hear you, time is something that we don’t have.

It seems to me that it isn’t until you pull out of something that you become aware that you were noticed as being there. Why, because while people were connecting they were not getting involved. How often do we notice when someone isn’t in church on a Sunday? How often do we just scan past of post on Facebook, or push the “like” button and move on? Yes, this is connecting but it’s not being involved.

Of course the bigger our world gets the harder it is to be involved. You have to wonder how those mothers who had large families of 8, 9, 10 or 12 children ever managed to be involved in all the lives of their children but they often did and did it well. I don’t think God expects us to be involved with everyone we meet but then after pondering this question today, I’m not sure. There are different levels of involvement, the question still remains am I involved at all?

I am often curious about how

Peter and Paul managed to stay involved in all the churches and people they worked with. After all they only had 24 hours in a day, the same amount of time we have and they couldn’t travel as fast as we do. My only conclusion is that they got involved while the walked, sat and worked. Not at specific times and specific places, they had to have been involved all the time no matter where they were.
